Evaluation of Teachers’ Views On Teaching Guide Prepared In Accordance With 5E Model
Abstract :
The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of teaching guide designed in accordance to the 5E model for teaching the unit Cell division and Inheritance in Primary Education 8th grade Science Technology course. The research was conducted in Kocaeli province in 2012 and 2013 academic year and the opinions of 18 teachers from 4 different secondary schools located at the centers were taken about the efficiency of the guide. In the teaching guide; as well as the alternative teaching, measurement, evaluation method and techniques, the tradition methods were also used. The study guide was prepared in accordance to the 5E model. Teachers who were consulted for their opinions indicated that the teaching guide was written in a clear and straightforward style, the activities were designed in appropriate to the acquisitions of the activities and the activities had the qualities to support subjects and concepts. Besides the teachers emphasized that the teaching guide designed was more colorful and interesting than the available guide recommended by the Ministry of Education. The activities included were entertaining and high memorability and the expressions were facilitating learning.
