Abstract
Although scorpion envenomation is widespread in summer, cardiovascular complications are rare. A 5-year-old boy who had scoipion envenomation was hospitalized in our intensive care unit, presenting with lethargy, dyspnea, chest pain, and sinus tachycardia. Elevated cardiac markers (CK-MB and troponin-I), and systolic dysfunction were observed initially. Ischemic ECG findings and elevated cardiac markers resolved on the 4th day of therapy and systolic dysfunction (EF 20%) completely resolved on the 7th day. We report a rare case of transient cardiomyopathy following scoipion envenomation.
