Osteochondroma in The Chest Wall: 11 Cases

Abstract :
Objective: We aimed to evaluate the cases of with osteochondroma on the chest wall which we have surgically treated. Material and Method: We studied, gender, age, clinical examinations, radiological graphics and operative outcomes, of the patients with chestwall tumors diagnosed as osteochondroma, retrospectively between the years old 2010-2014. Prostetic meterial was used to close the gap occuring after total excision. Results: They were 8 males and 3 female with a mean age of 27,4 years. The mean follow up was three years after surgery and the mean symptomatic duration was three months. A slowly growing lump without pain was seen in most patients. However, tenderness on pressure was found in 4 patients. The lesion was at theribs in 10 patients and scapula in one patient. The lesion involved more thant woribs in 4 patients. Conclusion: Osteocondromashavemalignant potentialand it is difficultto be differentiated from chondrosarcomas, therefore, tumors originating from costalcartilages have to be surgically removed.
