شماره ركورد :

Abstract :
The child’s instinctive oral exploration of his environment and tendency to swallow objects that he can put into his mouth results in the lodgement of a wide variety of foreign bodies within the airway and digestive system. A 1-year-old female patient was admitted to the emergency clinic with a history of swallowing the metal spring of a ballpoint pen. During the investigation not one, but two foreign bodies were identified. The family was not aware of a second foreign body. The first foreign body lodged in the airway was removed via bronchoscopy whereas the second object lodged in the intestinal system was passed spontaneously and safely through the intestinal tract. All patients, especially paediatric patients who present with a complaint of swallowing foreign body, should be suspected for any other unknown foreign bodies.
