Abstract :
Psychiatric disorders may play roles in the induction or worsening of many dermatological diseases, whereas, chronic dermatoses predispose for psychiatric disorders. In the current study, it was aimed to investigate the relationships of dermatological diseases in inpatients in dermatology clinic with psychiatric disorders. Consultation requested patients (591 of 891) were evaluated retrospectively. Psychiatric diagnoses and dermatological diagnoses in 156 inpatients, from whom psychiatric consultation requested, were recorded and then evaluated. The highest consultation rate was from psychiatric clinic (16,2 %). In 91,7% of these patients, various psychiatric disorders were diagnosed. The most frequent diagnoses were depression (48,1%) and anxiety (31.4%).Depression in 50% and anxiety in 37% of the patients in urticaria group and depression in 40% and anxiety in 29,5% of inflammatory group were diagnosed. As a result; the frequency of psychiatric disorders in inpatients who are thought to have psychical problems in the dermatology clinic was found to be markedly high (91,7%). Therefore, it is suggested that it might be useful to increase collaborations with psychiatry clinic in diagnosis and treatment of patients with psychocutanous dermatoses.
