Multislice Computed Tomography (MSCT) in the Diagnosis of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome
Abstract :
Objective: To review the diagnostic role of multislice computed tomography (MSCT) in Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS) which may be overlooked by routine examinations. Materials and Methods: PKS diagnosed 57 cases in our department included in the study for the evolution of the lower abdominal oriented MDCT examinations. Results: A total of 47 women cases are aged between 15 and 81 with the average age of 48. In all of the PKS diagnosed cases, dilatations over 4 mm were shown in pelvic and ovarian veins. The dilatation in pelvic veins was unilateral in 41 cases (72%), and bilateral in 16 cases (28%). Dilatation in pelvic veins was measured as 4-5 mm (mild) in 19 cases, 6-7 mm (moderate) in 27 cases, and 8 mm and above (severe) in 11 cases. Conclusion: MSCT is an effective method for the diagnosis of PCS.
