Abstract :
This study was conducted to determine relationship among the antibody of canine herpesvirus-1 (CHV-1), breed, gender and age in a total of 95 dogs (55 Anatolian Shepherd Dogs and 40 German Shepherd dogs). CHV-1 antibody was detected by using virus neutralization test with added complement (VNT), and ELISA technique. CHV-1 antibody was detected in 24 dogs (25.2%) by VNT. Serum samples which were positive by VNT were also found positive by ELISA. There was no significant relationship between being antibody positive and gender (P 0.05), but Anatolian Shepherd dogs had higher serapositive ratio than German Shepherd dogs. The rate of the seropositivity increased by age and the highest was at age 5 (64.7%).
