Abstract :
This study was carried out to identify the effects of mixed feed (KY) supplemented 200 ppm orange peel oil to mixed feed (PY) on egg production, feed intake, feed conversion rate, external and internal egg quality in different sex ratios of (1 male + 1 female; 1 male + 3 females; 1 male + 5 females; 1 male + 7 females) in laying quails. A total of 80 (64 females and 16 males) quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) were used in the study. The experiment took 42 days. The effects of orange peel oil and sex ratio on egg production and egg weight were found to be in significant (P 0.05). Feed in take decreased in PY group (P 0.05). In crowded group in which there were more female feed in take increased significantly (P 0.001). Feed conversion rate was found similar among groups (P 0.05). While orange peel oil increased egg shell weight, shell rate (P 0.001), yolk color (P 0.01), albumen height, yolk height, haugh units and length (P 0.05), weight, shell thickness, albumen length, egg width and eggs shape index were not affected (P 0.05). Egg quality characteristics were not affected by the sex ratio (P 0.05). Results of this study showed that the sex ratio did not influence egg production, and characteristics, and the orange peel oil significantly improved quality of the egg.
