Canine Adenovirus Seroprevalance in Dogs in Kayseri

Abstract
Infection of Canine adenovirus (CAV) is a widespread viral acute disease especially occurs at young dogs in the world. This study was aimed to investigate presence of CAV specific antibody in dogs in Kayseri province by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Sera obtained from 91 dogs in different gender, breed and age and that were unvaccinated against CAV were used analysis. Positive antibody was determined in 36.2% of the dogs with ratio of 33/91. The seropositivity rates were not found to be statistically significant between breed, sex and ages. CAV infection was observed with a high prevalence in the unvaccinated dogs in Kayseri and it can be concluded that regular vaccination can reduce the prevalence of infection.
