A Case of Phocomelia in a Simmental Calf
Abstract :
A bilateral phocomelia case has been observed on both tibias of a one-week-old calf, brought to the Surgery Clinic, Animal Hospital, University of Fırat. In the absence or in the from of a very small size of one of the long bones (humerus, radius, ulna, femur, tibia and fibula), the front or back legs become shorter and the animal looks like a seal. This condition is called phocomelia. Clinical and radiological finding related to these cases have been presented and considered to be useful to publish because of being interesting and very rare incidence in calves.
