Abstract :
Aims of this study were detection of subclinical mastitis ratio of cows in Arguvan province in city of Malatya and reveal of interaction between this ratio and some breeding parameters such as genus, age, and number of lactation. We also investigated the correlation of the California Mastitis Test (CMT) with somatic cell count (SCC) and electrical resistance of milk (ERM). As a working material, 2.596 mammary lobe each of which belonged to 649 heads of different breeds of cows were selected from Arguvan province of Malatya city. CMT was applied to milk samples of all animals. In addition of CMT, SCC was applied to 477 mammary lobe and ERM was applied to 652 lobes. According to our findings 51.77% of cows and 28.04% of udder quarters had positive results in CMT. CMT ratio was higher in animals with troubled birth or placental retention history at the same time CMT, ratio was lower in animals that were in 0-2 months period of lactation. In addition, we observed a statistically similarity between CMT, SCC and ERM. Consequently, high CMT ratio shows that subclinical mastitis is an important disorder in the region. We also showed that CMT and SCC could be used alone for subclinical mastitis diagnose but ERM fails to give enough information for diagnose and needs the help of other methods to achieve correct diagnosis.
