Abstract :
This study aims to investigate the effect of argumentative writing instruction on critical thinking tendency and writing anxiety of pre-service classroom teachers. The study is a type of weak experimental research based on one group pre-test/post-test design. The participants of the study include 63 undergraduate students of classroom teaching who have been enrolled in the class of Teaching Turkish at AIBU during 20120-2013 academic year. Of the participants, 84% are females and 16% are males. Two different instruments, Critical Thinking Tendency Scale and Writing Anxiety Scale, were used to collect the data of the study. The results indicated that the training on argumentative writing that pre-service teachers were exposed to had a positive effect on their critical thinking tendency.
