Teachers Perceptions about the Relationship between Learning Levels of Values in Citizenship and Human Rights Course and the Environment
Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to determine the relation between learning levels of values in Citizenship and Human Rights course and the role of environment where students live based on the teachers’ perceptions. Participants of the research are selected among teachers who teach this lesson in central schools, district and village schools in Kars. The service zones of schools determined by the Ministry of National Education based on the development level of the schools are considered. Among purposeful sampling methods, maximum variety sampling method is used to reflect individual variety in a small setting. The reason why we chose this sampling method in this study is to detect whether common features are observed in various situations in the targetedarea instead of generalizing the findings in the universe through maximum variation sampling. The data are interpreted according to predetermined themes. Therefore descriptive analysis is used for this study. Results were interpreted based on the establishing cause-effect relationship between teachers views. After the evaluations, some suggestions have been made.
