Abstract
The aim of this study was the examination of the predictive roles of moral value and self-compassion on forgiveness. Participants of this study were 412 university students in Dumlupinar University in Kütahya/Turkey. Trait Forgiveness Scale, Moral Value Scale and Self-compassion Scale were used for data collection. Data was analyzed by Pearson Product-Moments Correlation Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis in SPSS17. Within results, there were relationships between forgiveness, moral value and self-compassion. Self-compassion and moral value were important predictor of forgiveness, also self-compassion and moral value explained to 56% total variance of forgiveness. The findings were discussed in light of the related literature.
