Abstract :
The current study aims at examining the attitudes of fourth-year students attending computer teaching departments of three different faculties in Gazi University towards teaching profession with regards to different variables. The population of the study consists of 330 students attending the computer teaching departments of the following faculties in Gazi University: Industrial Arts Faculty; Education Faculty and Technical Education Faculty. 77 % of this population is involved in the study as participants. The results of the study reveals that the attitude points of the prospective computer teachers are not significantly different according to the variables “sex, the high school they graduated from, and the faculty they attend. Similarly, there is not a significant difference between the attitude points of the participants who willingly selected the department and those who were reluctant in choosing their current department. However; as for the faculties, a significant difference is found between the attitude points of the prospective teachers attending Gazi Education Faculty with regards to reluctance or willingness in the selection of the department. Finally; overall and individual attitude points in each three faculties significantly differ according to variable of “willingness to work as a teacher after the graduation” and here the difference is found to be in favor of the prospective teachers who are willing to work as teacher after graduation.
