Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate and evaluate the ecological footprints and views on ways to reduce the ecological footprint of pre-service science teachers. The research is carried out in a cross-sectional survey model. 90 pre-service science teachers were applied to the ecological footprint calculation tool and 48 pre-service science teachers were had an interviews about the ways to reduce the ecological footprint. The ecological footprints of pre-service science teachers were compared with Turkey’s average ecological footprint (2,70 kha) by using one sample t-test analysis and were found significantly higher. For data of obtained from the interviews content analysis method was selected and the data were analyzed with qualitative analysis program. In the interviews, pre-service science teachers suggested that they should have made changes in their lifestyle and consumer preferences.
