Abstract :
The aim of this research is to investigate the students’ aims of using social networks according to their learning styles. Study was carried out with 479 undergraduate students from Gazi University. Survey method was used in the research. To find out learning styles of students, Felder and Silverman’s(1996) Index of Learning Styles adapted into Turkish by Fer (2003) and to find out purpose of using social networks, Aims of Use of Social Network Sites Scale was developed by Karal ve Kokoç (2010) were used. According to findings, significant difference was found in active/reflective and sensing/intuitive learning style in terms of the acquaintance. This difference was in the favor of active students in active/reflective learning style and in the favor of intuitive students in sensing/intuitive learning style. Both purpose of using social network for social interaction-communication and education was significant for Visual/verbal learning style in favor of visual students. There was no significance between sequential/global learning style for the purpose of using social networks.
