Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to develop a scale which will reveal leadership skills of school principals according to the opinions of high school students. The research population consists of the high schools within Kahramanmaras city center. The research sample consists of 600 students selected from these high schools. The scale was named as the leadership skill of school principal (LSS). The validity of the LSS was determined according to exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and its reliability was determined according to Cronbach’s Alpha reliability coefficient of internal consistency. The scale was observed to have a three factor structure according to the AFA. These findings were in line with the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The reliability coefficients of the scale resulted at very high values for the sub-dimensions and the total scale. These findings suggest that the 23 itemed LSS is a valid and reliable scale instrument for students in educational institutions.
