The Relationship between Leadership Team Coherence and Teacher Performance: The Mediating Effect of Job Satisfaction
Abstract :
In the present study, the mediating effect of job satisfaction in the relationship between leadership team coherence and teachers’ job performance in schools was investigated. 261 teachers working in the province of Zonguldak participated in the study. Research data were collected via Scale for Leadership Team Coherence (SLTC), Scale for Job Performance (SJP) and Scale for Job Satisfaction (SJS). Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and path analysis as well. The results showed that the coherence among school leadership team is high. It was also determined that teachers’ job performance perceptions and job satisfaction levels are relatively high. The correlation analyses revealed that there are moderate level, positive and significant correlations among research variables. Path analysis indicated that job satisfaction plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between leadership team coherence and job performance. Based on findings it was concluded that the effect of leadership team coherence on teachers’ job performance could be accomplished with the mediating role of job satisfaction.
