Abstract :
The term ‘pedagogical agent’ is used for different goals and functions in each discipline, so it is defined disparately in different disciplines. Agents are called pedagogical agents in the literature of international educational sciences, generally used with computer assisted instruction software. The pedagogical agents that ease social learning have been accepted as an inevitable element of computer assisted instruction software. Although there have been a lot of researches on pedagogical agents, which are classified in different forms regarding their designs, such as human-like, audible, text-based, gestures, cartoon characters, there is not many instrument evaluation pedagogical agents in literature. It is considered that the evaluation of these pedagogical agents is significant as much as the studies analyzing the effect of these pedagogical agents on other variables. According to this idea, the purpose of the study is to adaptation an instrument related to evaluations about pedagogical agents. A 25-item scale consisting of four constructs developed by Ryu and Baylor (2005) was adapted into Turkish for this purpose. For this assessment instrument, internal reliability coefficient was found .93 in the explanatory factor analysis. As for the values of confirmatory factor analysis, they were found at an acceptable limit value. Results obtained from the study showed that this assessment instrument could be used in order to determine middle school students’ judgments about pedagogical agents.
