Abstract :
The study was planned in an attempt to determine the views of nursing students with different learning styles about the design of the web-based course. The study was conducted in a descriptive and cross-sectional way. The study population consisted of all students (N:210) that were registered to the web-based course at a Nursing Faculty. The sample, on the other hand, consisted of 152 students who accepted to participate in the study. The data were collected by using the Information Form, Kolb Learning Styles Inventory and Scale of Evaluating Web-Based Learning Environments. Majority of students who participated in the study are women and their age average is 20.01±2.44. A great majority of students are Anatolian High School/Science High School and General High School graduates. Majority of students have personal computers and all of them use the internet. As a result of the study, it was determined that students; mainly had an internalizing and dissociating learning style, had positive views about the design of the entire web- based course, as well as the page layout, color, typography, images, motion images, navigation and instruction, content and functionality dimensions, and mainly concentrated on the choices of “highly convenient” and “completely convenient” regarding each item of page layout, color, typography, images, motion images, navigation and instruction, content and functionality dimensions of the design of the web-based course. In the light of these results; it could be suggested to determine the learning styles of students by considering four learning styles in arranging, developing and structuring the web-based course designs.
