An Investigation of the Critical Thinking Dispositions of Pre-Service Science Teachers According to Some Variables

This study aims to offer a suggestion for the development of critical thinking disposition level by analyzing the effect of some variables on the critical thinking dispositions, to determine the relationship between the critical thinking disposition and the critical thinking skills, and problem solving skills, and to analyze the pre-service science teachers’ critical thinking disposition levels. A survey model was used in the research. The research was conducted on 496 students in 2012-2013 academic year. It was found that there is no significant effect of the gender, the income level, the educational levels of parents and the instruction type at universities on the pre-service science teachers’ critical thinking disposition levels. In addition there is no significant improvement in critical thinking disposition toward 4th grade from 1st grade, and there is positive relation between critical thinking disposition and critical thinking skills and problem solving skills.
