Abstract
Family is a social institution consisting of mother, father and children living under the same roof. In this study; the ending process of family institution which is one of the most important establishment in the foundation of a society in Ayntab city in XVII. Century, has been considered. Based on Ģer‟iyye records, the study is tried to reveal the conditions in which divorces took place and their consequences. Divorces, which were seen as the last solution in the cases of disputes between the spouses, had been exercised pursuant to Islamic law, customs and traditions.
