Gaziantep during World War II according to the Inspectional Reports of CHP

The Party Inspectorship, under the special circumstances of the period, has been held as one of the political reforms carried out by RPP so as to fulfil its duties both as an organisation and a political party. The aim has been to exercise supervisory control over the party organisation and to make the party’s traditional centralist structure strong. The inspectors would schedule their inspections twice a year in terms of means of transportation and course of seasons in their own provinces, would prepare a plan for the inspections, informing as to where they would be in which month, and would send them to the secretariat general of RPP. This paper aims to ascertain the socio-economic and cultural status of Gaziantep in the light of the inspection reports drawn up by both the party inspectors of the district of Gaziantep and the deputies of Gaziantep during 1941–1945.
