Teachers awareness and expectations related to the Fatih Project: a situation analysis
Abstract :
The Fatih Project, run by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Transportation, aims to achieve equal opportunities in education by providing all classes of primary and secondary education schools with boards integrated with LCD screen and internet network infrastructure and giving every student and every teacher a tablet. This study aims to reveal teachers’ awareness, attitudes and expectations related to Fatih Project. The target population of the study is the teachers in state and private, primary and secondary schools in four districts of Istanbul; Bakırköy, Arnavutköy, Sultangazi and Beylikdüzü. The sample of the study consists of 319 teachers, which equals to 10% of 3225 teachers who are teaching in state and private, primary and secondary schools in those four districts in September, 2012. Descriptive quantitative method is used in the research. The results showed that teachers’ awareness regarding Fatih Project is weak, and their expectations are low compared with the expectations from the Project.
