Abstract
This study was conducted as a cross-sectional study to determine learning styles of junior nursing students and investigate the relationship between their learning styles and academic achivement in School of Nursing, Gülhane Military Medical Academy. A total of 108 junior nursing students were included in the study between December 2009 and January 2010. Student information questionnaire developed by the researchers and Kolb’s Learning Style Inventory were used to determine sociodemographic characteristics and learning styles of students, respectively. According to the Kolb’s Learning Style Inventory, 31.5% of the students were assimilator learners. Additionally 14.8% of the students had more than one learning style (divergent+assimilator, accomodator+divergent, converger+assimilator). In this study it was determined that learning styles of the students did not affect their academic achivement.
