Abstract :
Rational use of medicines (pharmacotherapy) is defned by WHO as patients receive the appropriate medicine, in proper dose, for an adequate period of time and at the lowest cost to them and their community. For this aim, rational pharmacotherapy training has been given in AAABBB Faculty since 2004. In this study, the success of training was evaluated according the objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE) which were held before and after the training period. According the total OSCE scores, after training scores (68.30±1.17) were increased signifcantly when compared with before training scores (23.20±1.19). Students signifcantly made progress in problem solving steps and communication skills which were consist of defning the patient s problem, evaluating the propriety of personal drug (p-drug) choice, choosing the therapy, accurate prescribing and giving the necessary warning information. In order to be more successful, the training should be given the time period that the students begin clinical practice and continued the next years as a reminder, so these skills became permanent behaviors.
