Abstract :
Mad Honey Poisoning occurs with the consumption of honey produced from nectar and pollen of Rhododendron flowers, located in the forest areas of the Black Sea region in Turkey, containing grayanotoxin. Poisoning is caused by the excessive consumption of fresh and pungent honey containing grayanotoksin. Cardiovascular and gastrointestinal complaints are common in these cases. In order to make the diagnosis of mad honey poisoning, which can rarely cause life-threatening situations, excessive and fresh honey consumption as well as the patient s current complaints should be questioned in medical history.
