Abstract
As a result of the importance Turkic societies attached to family and relationship, that the terms of kinship are numerous and detailed is a situation many researchers have realized a up to day. Many studies on the kinship terms in Turkic have been carried out until today and this issue has been dealt with from various aspects. In this study the word cicianne which is used in Turkish is studied; and our opinions about the origin and structure of the word cici takes place. In many studies carried out until today this word has been seen as in relationship with cici, which is based upon child language and is used to mean ‘lovely, amiable etc.’, and explained in this way. The usages in Anatolian local languages and current Turkic languages and dialects and texts belonging to some historical periods however have provided different points of wiew to occur.
