Abstract :
Gülten Akın (1933-) is a poet who, with poems she started to write in the 1950s, is partially seen on the line of the Second New, but with her poems she started to write from 1970s that have social sensitivity, she is also a poet who passes from individualism to socialism and continues this tendency to date. Not being indifferent to issues of the society she lives in, she believes that the poetry should be nourished by the dynamics of life and she generates her poetry in this way. In her poems, themes like city which is a panorama of the new life style, immigration coming with the urbanization and shanty have an important place. The poet who handles these themes mostly with a woman tenderness, has shown that she has transformed the tradition by writing the epic, ballad and lament of the urbanized people with same tenderness. In this article, the concepts of immigration and shants will be explained plainly, and then how these were perceived in the poems of Gülten Akın in view of the related poems will be attempted to be shown. In the analyses of the poems, while the text forms the basis, the life of the poet will also be made use of.
