MODAL FUNCTION OF THE “-AY” SUFFIX IN TURKMEN TURKISH
Abstract :
There are differences between Turkmen Turkish and Turkey Turkish in terms of morphology although there are not so many of them. Because some of these differences have not been studied in detail even in studies in Turkmenistan, their evaluation becomes more difficult. The use of is one of such differences. Some functions of this suffix have not been explained completely. Therefore, the use of this suffix is considered useless in some explanations. A different function of this suffix, its modal function, is examined in this study.
