Abstract :
As it is known, “the “New Language Movement” had a start by Ali Canip Yöntem, Ömer Seyfettin and Ziya Gökalp who were the most significant representatives of the magazine Genç Kalemler (Young Pens) which was started to publish in Salonika (now Thessaloníki, in Greece) on April 11, 1911. Mustafa Nermi, Kâzım Nami (Duru), Aka Gündüz (Enis Avni), Mehmet Ali Tevfik (Yükselen), Reşad Nuri, Celal Sahir (Erozan), Subhi Edhem, Hüseyin Naci, Âkil Koyuncu, Edhem Hidayet, Tahsin Nahid, Selahaddin Asım, Mustafa Haluk and Rasim Haşmet also were among important supporters of the New Language’s Movement. In this study Mehmet Ali Tevfik’s ideas on “the New Language” by examining his articles about “Turkism thoughts” in his book, Turanlı’nın Defteri (1914- Handbook of Turanian) will be analyzed and evaluated with a focus on the work. Impact of M. Ali Tevfik paying attention with his poems, articles and conferences on both the New Language and the National Literature, who was on side of the supporters of New Language such as Ziya Gökalp, Ömer Seyfettin and Ali Canip including the famous advocates of that period; will be questioned in the light of the texts in his book.
