ON THE VERBS OF il-, ėlt-, ilen- AND WORDS DERIVED THESE VERBS
Abstract :
Turkish is one of the languages that have conceptual richness thanks to the ability of acquiring innumerable derivation. Verb il- is among the verb stems which has achieved such a richness. The word lives in Anatolian dialects as a stem. Firstly seen in Old Uighur, verb il- is known to have a productive use both in historical and in modern Turkish dialects. Besides, this verb shows similarity with èlt- and ilen- verbs with regards to phonetics and semantics, therefore these verbs have their origins in il-. This study will dwell on the vocabulary, which are thought to be relevant with il-, èlt- and ilen- verbs, until Turkish, among the historical Turkish literary languages, Turkish dialects and will discuss the uncertain vocabulary.
