Abstract :
Purpose:This descriptive-type study was conducted to determine implementation status of pediatric nurses’ roles and functions. Materials and Methods:The study sample consisted of 118 pediatric nurses. The data were collected using the “pediatric nurses’ defining characteristics data form” and” Implementation of Pediatric Nurses’ Roles and Functions Inventory”. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the one way anova test and independent samples t test. Results:There was a significant relation between speciality of pediatric nurses and the subscales of “Pediatric Nurses’ Roles and Functions Inventory” (p 0.05). The pediatric nurses who work at the intensive care unit have high implementation level for the subscales of the “teacher and researcher roles”, comforter roles” and manager and coordinator roles”. Conclusion:Pediatric nurses should apply their professional roles and functions for quality of care during the care process of child and family. They should receive sufficient training to high implementation level of the roles and functions.
