Abstract :
The failure of suppressing the Greek revolt which began in 1821, by the Ottoman Empire led to theintervention of Russia and England, and then by joining of France, became an international issue.Eventually under the auspices of these Powers an independent Greece was created. The Greekpolitical factions based on these Powers during the Revolution had become political parties bearingthe name of each of these Powers after the independence. The Protecting Powers accepted the absolute monarchy as an appropriate regime for Greece and chose Prince Otto from the Bavarian royal family as King of Greece. Thus, since 1833 Greece has been dominated by the Bavarian authorities. Bavarian administration did not satisfy in particular the Russian Party intending to protect and to exalt Orthodoxy. At the end by establishing Philorthodox Society some of the Russophiles attempted a conspiracy in the name of dominance of Orthodoxy. Prepared plot failed. In this article, as well as giving information about the emergence of Philorthodox Society and the conspiracy prepared, the aspects of the conspiracy against the Ottoman Empire and the response of Ottoman statesmen will be focused.
