Title Of Article :
Genetic diversity in pepper (capsicum annuum l.) accessions as revealed by agronomic traits
Abstract :
In the experiment total 48 pepper genotypes including 30 accesssions were collected various region of Turkey and 18 local and foreign commercial cultivars were studied during 2004 and 2005. All the accessions were characterized for 67 agro-morphological traits from seedling emergence to crop maturity. In the first experiment year (2004) very high variation was observed among local landraces based on morphological and agronomic characters. However, in the 2004 experiment year each accession discriminate from mother plant and, in the second experiment year (2005) total 94 genotype and their lines investigated. Morphological data were analyzed by cluster and principal component analyses. Total eleven components accounted for 77.50% in the first and ten component 71.52% of variability in the the second growing season respectivly. A total three groups in first and seven groups in the second year clustered as a result of cluster analysis based on morpho-agronomic properties. The greater part of variation was accounted for by characters such as fruit diameter, fruit weight, volume, fruit wall thickness, fruit productivity, soluble solid and dry matter content.
