Consumer preferences towards frozen food products: Case of Izmir Province
Abstract :
In this study, consumption patterns and purchasing behaviors of the consumers towards frozen food products are investigated in Izmir province. The data is obtained through a consumer survey carried out with 271 individuals determined by random sampling methodology. Ease of preparation and saving of time were regarded as the most important reasons by the consumers, who purchased frozen foods, for their consumption of frozen foods. On the other hand, the consumers, who did not purchase any frozen foods, stated that they did not prefer to consume any frozen products since they could find any kind of fresh products in every season. It is concluded that, information, advertisement and promotion campains on frozen food products would be effective in stimulation of the demand. The need for tailoring these kinds of promotional activities according to the needs, wants and habits of the targeted consumers is emphasized.
