Performances of some cool season turfgrasses in different fertilizer doses

Abstract
In this study, effect of different doses (0-25-50-75 kg/da/year) of combined fertilizer (N-P-K; 12-12-12) on the turf performances of pure or mixed sown Lolium perenne and Festuca arundinacea were tested under Bayındır / Izmir ecological conditions during 2004-2006. Properties such as tillering, cover, weed invasion, color, cold resistance and turf quality were determined. Results of experiments indicated that, intensive fertilizer treatment was necessary in the loamy and sparcely textured soils of the area and, 50 kg/da/year combined fertilizer treatment provided the best result in all plots weather purely sown with one grass or Festuca arundinacea rich mixtures.
