Abstract :
In this study, first the velocity profiles at cross-section and vertical direction in I Menemen right and left main canals were obtained by using the point flow velocities measured in three different periods in 2006 irrigation season. Performance of flow velocity dispersion at main canal level was then determined by analyzing the temporal and spatial changing of these profiles. The instantaneous measured values of flow in both main canals in the season revealed that these flows were in river regime which caused sedimentation on canal beds. Velocity dispersion profiles at both cross section and vertical direction of the canals in all three measuring periods showed that roughness at canal slope and bed had a adverse effect on the flow velocity, and it was also understood that the roughness caused by the siltasyon and vegetation on the flow paths of canals.
