Abstract :
The objectives of this research were i: to determine different soil groups, ii: soil classification according to morphometric system and iii: soil survey and mapping of Minöz basin. The study area is 11.563 km2 and locates in Aslançayır village of Samsun-Havza district 1: 25.000 scaled SAMSUN- F35d3 ve F35d4 sheets. Average annual temperature and precipitation are 14.2°C and 680 mm. Mean sea level altitude of Basin area is 815 m. The maximum level of the area is 889 m. After examination of topographic, geologic and geomorphologic maps and land observation, 6 profile places were excavated in study area. Soil boundries were done with detailed land observations and auger examinations. The soil samples were taken from each profile and their physical and chemical analyses were done in the laboratory. By assessing the results of analyses and field studies, 6 different soil series were determined and described. Two of them were classified as Entisolls due to their low pedogenetic process called as young age and two are Inceptisol and one is Vertisol. According to FAO/ISRIC classification system, all pedons were classified as Leptosol, Calcisol, Cambisol and Luvisol. Kocaçal series has the largest area (% 25.7) whereas, Töngel series has the smallest area in the study area (%6.9).
