Abstract :
This study was carried out between 2007 and 2009 years at MKU, Agriculture Faculty, Horticulture Department on glasshouse, plastic greenhouse and open field using 18 cultivars at the first year and 13 cultivars at the second year. Yield, earliness and fruit quality characteristics were investigated. Among the genotypes “Sweet Charlie”, and among the production places glasshouse and plastic greenhouse were exhibited the most promising earliness. The highest yield was obtained from “Cal Giant 3” and “Sweet Charlie” at the first year and “Sweet Charlie” and “Camarosa” at the second year. The lowest yields were obtained from “Ottoman” at both years. Among the production places, the highest yields were obtained from plastic greenhouse while the lowest yields were obtained from glasshouse at both years. In fruit size, “Camarosa” cultivar yielded the largest berries while the lowest were from “Ottoman” cultivar. “Camarosa”, “Carmine” and “Kabarla” were the cultivars with firmest berries while “Ottoman” gave the softest berries. The firmest berries were obtained from open field. In the soluble solid/acid content, “Sweet Charlie” and plastic greenhouse showed the highest values. “Sweet Charlie”, “Cal Giant 3” and “Whitney” displayed light red, while “Marlate”, “Ebru” ve “Kaşka 1” displayed dark red fruit color.
