Abstract
Women undertake important roles in agricultural production. Researches show that extension services are predominantly conducted by the male extension agents and mostly directed towards the male farmers. In this study, the differences of extension activities according to the gender have been investigated by using the data gathered from 1102 extension agents in two researches which were carried out in Turkey. According to the findings, female extension agents have higher educational levels, spend more time for farmer training, and more frequently communicate with women farmers than their male colleagues. The female extension agents have efforts on improving the crop quality in addition to the yield and production increases. As a result of increasing on the numbers of female and their responsibilities in extension services will also encourage the activities towards female farmers and woman participation in rural development efforts.
