Abstract :
n this study it is aimed that the determining of the effect of the seed plates which have same characteristics and are placed in different height, on in-row seed distribution uniformity for pneumatic precision seeders which are widely used for seeding of row crops (cotton, corn, sunflower, etc.). Experiments conducted using cotton and maize seeds at two different seed spacing and 1,0 1.5 and 2.0 m s^-1 of travelling speeds. The seeders were tested in the lab and the seed spacing accuracy tests as an indicator of seeding performance were carried out on a sticky belt. From the study conducted, the seed distribution uniformity of the seeders equipped with height metering unit was found to be lower than the ones with low metering unit. The performance of the seeders with height metering unit varied between 80.9-92.5% and 82.5-97.8% for cotton at a theoretical seed spacing of 50 and 100 mm, respectively, while the range was 92.0-98.1% for 100 mm and 93.2-100% for a theoretical seed spacing of 200 mm for corn. On the other hand, these values for the machines with low metering unit were found to be 81.3-94.6%, 83.6-100%, 92.6-100% and 96.3- 100%, respectively. Besides, it was determined that an increase in theoreticalseed spacing promoted the seeding performances of the machines.
