Title Of Article :
Likelihood of Organic Milk Consumption Among Youth; Research of Ege University
Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the habit of organic milk consumption and the likelihood of organic milk consumption among youth (university students). In this study, 270 students are interviewed. 68% of the students consumption milk, but the ratio of organic milk consumption is 39%. An interesting point is that a significant part of the students who have ever tasted the organic milk (%42) showed tendency towards organic milk consumption. The factors effecting organic milk consumption are confidanced by using logistic regression model. The awareness of organic milk, family income level above poverty line and studying in health, nature and environmental sciences related departments increases the probability of organic milk consumption. On the other hand, higher price of organic milk decreases the likelihood of organic milk consumption among students. Moreover, the factors like whether a student lives with his/her family or not, lives in a city, town or near a village and gender do not affect the likelihood of organic milk usage. It is clear from these results, in order to increase organic milk consumption among youth, we need to increase its awareness and develop cost reducing policies to decrease its price.
