Abstract :
in this study, soil fertility levels of potato cultivated lands in Izmir-Odemis were assessed through soil analyses. A total of 39 soil samples were taken as to represent the region and samples were subjected to texture, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), lime, organic matter and plant nutrient analyses. Results were assessed through comparisons with threshold values. Majority of soils had loamy texture, 84.62% had low lime levels, almost all neutral soil reaction and none of them had a salinity problem. While entire soils were insufficient in organic matter, almost all (94.87%) were also insufficient in total N. Soil samples were all found to be sufficient in available P and K levels, 76.92% was sufficient in available Ca and 87.18% was found to be sufficient in available Mg. Considering the microelements, 76.92% of soils were sufficient in available Fe, all were sufficient in available Cu, 61.54% was sufficient in available Zn and 43.59% was found to be sufficient in available Mn.
