Abstract :
this research was carried out to determine of the effect of different substrates on plant growth, yield and quality for Compindi White and Compindi Deep Blue varieties of Limonium sinuatum growth in greenhouse conditions. With this purpose, two cultivars of statice were grown in peat, perlite, tuff and equal amounts mixed media (peat, perlite and tuff 1:1:1), soil (control application) with the aim of evaluating the suitability for soilless cultivation. In order to reach determined aim; yield, flower stem length and diameter, flower stem weight, leaf number, weight of root and the upper part of the plant, root length parameters were evaluated. According to the results, the effects of substrates on the yield of Limonium sinuatum ‘Compindi White was found to be significant at p 0.01 level. In the first production period, the highest yield was obtained in the peat, in the second production period the highest yield was obtained in the mixed media (peat, perlite and tuff 1:1:1). For Limonium sinuatum Compindi Deep Blue , the highest yield values were obtained in the peat, in both production periods. In the cultivation of Limonium sinuatum in substrate culture, the effects on the plant growth of the differences in the physical and chemical properties of the used media varied according to the varieties. Generally, the highest values for flower stem length, flower stem weight, leaf number, weight of root and the upper part of the plant, root length were determined in peat and mixed media, although the results of plant development for both cultivars varied according to the production periods.
