The Influence of Final Irrigation Treatments on Yield and Fruit Quality for Processing Tomatoes Cultivated in Different Soil Types
Abstract :
this study was conducted in Turkey’s most significant place İzmir-Torbalı in terms of processing tomato cultivation throughout the 2015’s growing period. In this study, the effect of pre-harvest cut off irrigation treatments was examined on both yield and some fruit quality parameters in different soil types. This study was conducted in sandy-loam (C1), silty-loam (C2) and clayeyloam (E) parcels belonging to several producers who cooperate with TAT Gıda A.Ş. In this study, cut off irrigation treatments 5, 10 and 15 days before the harvest were trialed in these 3 soil types. The highest yield was obtained from silty-loam soil with 15073 kg/da and from cut off irrigation treatment 10 days before the harvest. Similarly, the lowest fruit sunburn ratio was obtained %10.53 in silty-loamy soil and %6.53 in clayey-loamy soil again with cut off irrigation treatment 10 days before the harvest. However, the highest brix value (%6.23) was obtained from cut off irrigation treatment 5 days before the harvest. The lowest pH value (4.91) was obtained again from cut off irrigation treatment 5 days before the harvest. Final irrigation treatment 15 days before the harvest was ranked generally last in terms of yield and quality parameters. The highest fruit sunburn value was obtained both from this treatment and control parcel.
