The Effects of Ornamental Outdoor Plants in Open-Green Areas on the Quality of Life: The Example of Tokat City
Abstract :
open-green areas have been regarded an indicator of the wealth level of a society from past to present day. Parks in the category of open-green areas, which is an important indicator for the quality of life, has an important place. It is an important fact that parks in the city provides recreational opportunities among contributions to create a habitable social, economically and ecologically environment. In this research, the development of the parks in the city of Tokat, which have an important place among light-green areas in the city and been used as promenades, in the years 1999-2015. In the city of Tokat there are 52 parks in total where 4 are near the Yeşilırmak River and 48 are in quarters. In 37 of these parks paysage studies have been done. In this research, ornamental outdoor plants have been determined through landscape observations. Usage status of the plants was evaluated and suggestions were made about the plants suitable for growing in the Tokat province ecological conditions in accordance with the determined deficiencies. In addition to this, the amount of active green space per capita that people of the city of Tokat can use has been evaluated.
