Title Of Article :
Determination of Some Agro-Morphological Characters Among Different Originated Saffron (Crocus sativus L.) Populations Under Bornova Ecological Conditions
Abstract :
Objective: Although, Turkey is known as one of the origins of saffron plants which are not involved in the country of commercial producer countries. The aims of this research were investigated of some agro-morphological parameters among Turkish and Iranian saffron populations under Bornova ecological conditions. Material ve Methods: The populations that originated from Tokat and Safranbolu locations of Turkey and Kashmar location of Iran were used as experimental material in this research. The research was carried out in second years of saffron plants that they were available in the experimental farm of Field Crops department faculty of Agriculture Ege University in 2017. Results: Flower number, fresh flower weight, fresh filament weight, filament height, stigma height, style height, flower length, petal length, fresh stigma weight, dry stigma weight, dry flower weight, dry style weight, fresh style weight and dry filament weight were evaluated among saffron populations. The results of study indicated that, there were significant differences in flower number, fresh flower weight and petal length among investigated populations. The highest flower number and petal length were obtained from Safranbolu population. Also the highest fresh flower weight was observed in Kashmar population. The significant and positive correlations were found between fresh filament weight with fresh stigma weight (r = 0.950**) and fresh style weight (r = 0.898**). Also, fresh stigma weight had high level correlations with dry flower weight and fresh style weight. Fortheremore, there was a high level of correlation between dry stigma weight and dry filament weight. Conclusion: The flower number of Turkish populations were more than the flower number of Iranian population, the results of study demonstrated that the Turkish populations can be cultivated with more yield under regional conditions.
