Investigations on Disinfection Possibilities with Ozone in Indoor of Seedling Nursery Facilities
Abstract :
Objective: In this study, the possibilities of using ozone for the general disinfection of indoor environments of plant nursery facilities which are provide material to open field and greenhouses were investigated. Material and Methods: Anseros Pap Mobil 2000 Ozone Water Skid compact system was used for the production and measurement of ozone. Microbial material has formed the natural microflora, which is encouraged to develop under high humidity conditions in the cabinets. To contaminate metal surfaces with a plant pathogenic microorganism was a Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici isolate used. The research was carried out with the application of 15-60 minutes and 75-150 mg O3/Nm3 doses to the closed cabinet with high microbiological load. Metal surfaces were exposed to the same doses for a shorter period. Results: The intensive microbial load in the cabinet atmosphere was 100% controlled as a result of the application of 100 and 150 mg O3/Nm3 doses for 1 hour. It has been determined that the ozone doses in 75 and 85 mg O3/Nm3 with 1 hour application time have a significant effect on the fungal- bacterial microorganisms on the surfaces and move by the air in the cabin atmosphere. Strong negative correlation between increased ozone doses and fungal load was determined. The fungal and bacterial loads on the cabin metal surfaces have decreased with the significance of ozone application in the gaseous form. Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici microconidia with application at a dose of 100 mg O3/Nm3 for 30 minutes have been completely eradicated. Conclusion: As a result of the data obtained from the study, it was understood that it is possible to use the ozone safely as a disinfectant in the interior spaces for seedling nursery facilities. It was concluded that the 100 mg O3/Nm^3 dose of ozone with 1 hour application creates a sterile atmosphere. This combination is feasible for the cleaning of the other material in the spaces.
